The corrupt Lord Ambrose D'Arcy (Michael Gough) steals the life's work of the poor musical Professor Petry. (Herbert Lom). In an attempt to stop the printing of music with D'Arcy's name on it, Petry breaks into the printing office and accidentally starts a fire, leaving him severely disfigured. A great classic from Hammer, showing that you usually can't go wrong with Phantom of the Opera. The music fits it perfectly, as does the gothic concept, which the creators chose in this case. It's not as grandiose as it should be, but still, the musical sequences are in great balance with the suspenseful and horror ones.
