A számítógépes animációval megjelenített filmsorozat a Krisztus előtti ókor híres alakjait és híressé vált ütközeteiket mutatja be. A sorozat célja ezúttal nem föltétlenül tudományos, régészeti bizonyítékok bemutatása, hanem az, ahogyan ma elképzeljük, miként történhetett: hogyan zajlott Nagy Sándor, vagy Spárta és Athén háborúja, milyen csatát vívott a bibliai Ábrahám, de akár Dávid király? Hogyan zajlott le III. Tutmószisz híres ütközete a Nílus partján, főként pedig Hannibál oly híres, de valójában csak római forrásokban leírt harcai? (Spektrum)

Battles BC cannot deny the fact that it came from a commercial studio and that its task is not so much to educate and instruct, but above all to entertain and attract attention. The commentary does not go into details, does not overwhelm with facts, and is narrated in an easily understandable form, focusing on what is interesting and attractive. Unfortunately, the visual aspect of the documentary series, in order to maximize attractiveness, resembles more of a scientifically conceived documentary of heroic fantasy than a sober one, and in this respect, it is amusing at best. The graphic concept is based on Miller's comic "300: Battle of Thermopylae", popularized by the eponymous film. The series also suffers from the well-known disease of documentary cycles from the North American environment. The breaks intended for inserting advertising blocks can be precisely identified, giving viewers a unique opportunity to enjoy certain scenes multiple times. Despite the mentioned shortcomings, considering the attractive topic, it deserves three stars. Overall impression: 55%.
