The illustrative literality, over-filled with trick filming straight out of Jumanji spoils this rather. Personally, I prefer the approach chosen by the BBC for the BBC Earth “offshoot". In other words, to stun the viewer with nature and information, rather than treating them to cheap CGI effects. On the other hand, this cycle just isn’t about European nature, but the story of the continent as such. In the end, this is more suitable for consumption from a school desk as an invaluable aid for learning about the ice age or as study material for the car mechanics of Prague on the topic “why it’s a good idea to breed pine martens in the vicinity of your auto repair shop".
