Charlie (Jim Carrey) nem egyszerű figura. Általában senkit nem zavar, amiben csak az a baj, hogy ő rendőr, és pont az lenne a dolga. Tudathasadásos tüneteit környezete inkább bohókás alkatának tudja be, időnként be kell kapnia néhány jótékony pirulát. Egyedül neveli hármas ikreit, akik külön-külön is néha érettebbnek látszanak apjuknál. Egyszer csak elpattan benne valami és időnként előbújik belőle Hank (Jim Carrey), aki viszont agresszív, rámenős és faragatlan. Rutinfeladatra osztják be egy napon: át kell szállítania egy szökevény nőt egy másik börtönbe. Iszonyú nagy hatással van rá a hölgy. A bunkóbbik fele, Hank is feléled benne és követeli a maga jussát. A túl sokat tudó Irene-t (Renée Zellweger) néhány igen fontos szervezet el akarja hallgattatni, köztük Charlie korrupt kollégái. Charlie-nak ráadásul elgurulnak a gyógyszerei… (HBO Europe)

After some serious and perfectly played roles, Jim Carrey once again went off to shoot one more crazy comedy. But, woefully, Carrey and the Friesian are the only positive things in the whole movie. Everything else from the direction to the screenplay to the unbearable length is terrible. There are a few (but only a few) hilarious scenes but they are not enough to save the movie.

Carrey at his "face-making" best, i.e. there really are few actors with such brutally sophisticated facial expressions (Ryan Gosling is the opposite extreme). I'd leave the "seriousness" of the story completely aside and make do with the claim that this is a breezy comedy with some memorable moments and sometimes pretty killer lines. The trio of brothers was unbeatable in this regard.
