Charles Sheeler and Paul Strands (1890-1976) directorial debut is a pioneer film of American avant-garde. It is an experimental documentary, a poetic and unhurried metropolitan symphony of Manhattan, New York. Manhatta is a beautifully paced depiction of what a metropolis was in the early 1920s.
