A tizennégy éves Darren semmiben sem különbözik a kertvárosi kölyköktől. Ám mindez megváltozik, miután a barátjával találkoznak egy utazó cirkusszal. A kamaszt megigézi a Rémségek cirkuszának és szörnyeinek világa. Nem csoda, hogy igent mond a Larten Crepsley nevű vámpírnak, amikor az felajánlja neki, hogy őt is vérszomjassá változtatja. Az újdonsült vérszívó csatlakozik a cirkusz förtelmes társulatához, és ezzel együtt belecsöppen a vámpírok és a még náluk is veszedelmesebb ellenfeleik, a vérszipolyok között folyó ádáz küzdelembe. I don't know the book, so (perhaps fortunately) I can't compare them, but: All of the monsters that appeared in the film were really interesting (it's a pity that some of them didn't get more space), with Reilly's vampire being the best, followed by Dafoe, Salma Hayek and Jane Krakowski (I could watch these two all the time). The main character is such a typical teenager who comes to happiness and moral lessons, while the rest of the characters (except for two memorable villains) are worthless. Including those demented parents. I liked the music, the special effects and the visuals are decent... It works perfect as relaxation. Undemanding fun with some really good jokes by John C. Reilly. Three and a half = above average.

Decently made but awfully annoying horror for kids. I don’t know how the book tells the story, but I would have preferred it to be adapted in any other way than in this adolescently superficial one. Besides, this type of overcooked fantasy where anything can happen because there are no rules pisses me off in general.

I probably had expectations too different from what I ultimately got. I thought this would be fun, that it would be different, that it would approach the vampire myth humorously, maybe even satirically, but this is just boring, with very good actors, but even they can't save the fact that this is basically Fright Night for kids.
