Salaam - E - Ishq

A Tribute to Love is essentially a model Bollywood film. It draws its structure from Love Actually and is, overall, thoroughly schooled in the past and present of Western cinema, just so it can work its magic in its own completely original way. I am happy to see some faces from other films, like Salman Khan from Oh, My Love, Priyanka Chopra from Krrish, Anil Kapoor from Slumdog Millionaire, Ayesha Takia from Didn't Think of It, John Abraham from Water, Vidya Balana from Eklavya: The Royal Guard, and Govinda from Partner. I also discovered a few references that I hadn't read but made me laugh all the more, like the older people dancing to "Dhoom Machala." :)) Watch this in the darkness of your own living room and enjoy all this exceptional love entanglement, including all the wonderful musical performances. The title character, Saiyaan Re, and Tenu Leke were particularly outstanding. Busby Berkeley would be pleased. (2010.03.25)
