Troy a téli szünetben megismerkedik egy lánnyal, Gabriella-val, akivel egy véletlen folytán kerül össze egy karaoke bulin. Fantasztikus párost alkotnak a színpadon, ám közös énekük után azonnal elválnak útjaik...A suliban azonban újra találkoznak, Gabriella teljesen véletlenül ugyanabba az iskolába iratkozik be, ahová Troy jár. Az iskolában a diákok már javában jelentkezhetnek az idei musical bemutatóra. Troy persze nem akar leégni a haverok előtt és inkább a kosarazást választja, Gabriella pedig egyelőre a tanulásra koncentrál. De a zene szeretetétől nem tudnak szabadulni. Megismerkednek a musical szerzőjével és azonnal beleszeretnek a darabba...és mindeközben természetesen egymásba is! (TV2)

A movie that’s accurately depicting the difference between the American and the European pop culture. What is celebrated and beloved in America can be despised and ridiculed in Europe.

After ten minutes, I was going crazy with fear and called back the overdressed Travolta with anything that would be less idiotic than the gang from East High. No one had explained to them the difference between a relaxed atmosphere and an overly sweetened mess. But behold, there were moments of exaggeration, and despite their inability to act, the girls looked good and sang, which resonates with my huge weakness for cheesy pop hits. Eventually, caught myself admitting that no one is a genius in high school and does stupid things and behaves just like the main characters - at least once in their life. And the feelings from the beginning turned around so much that I still happily listen to the soundtrack in specific moods to this day, and in my evaluations, I have happily exceeded the usual three stars. Never say never.
