Hell on Earth is unleashed when a mutated strain of mad cow disease infects the countryside turning people into ravenous flesh eating zombies. Caught amid the chaos is Helena (Marian Araujo), a young Spanish tourist and Desmond (David Muyllaert), the local grave digger. If I were to rate Dead Meat as a low-budget little horror flick, it would probably get more than three stars, but when I compare it with other zombie films, I have to moderate my enthusiasm and give it a nice 60%. The female lead is likeable enough and the film was fun when she was on the run alone, but the appearance of other (not so likeable) characters brings that impression down. But I’m still more than satisfied, it was good enough to kill a rainy afternoon in July. PS: The Irish countryside is a great horror destination.
