(HBO Europe)

Season 4 (2009) (S04)

angol Of all four seasons, I enjoyed this one the most, mainly because of the character of Arthur Mitchell. John Lithgow could once again show off his talent to play mentally disturbed individuals. But I was also intrigued by Debra's digging into the family past and Dexter's ongoing internal struggle. On the other hand, what annoyed me was all the drama around the workplace relations. Luckily, things were saved by one well-aimed death. What a relief... ()

Élni egy álmot (2009) (S04E01)

angol The start of the fourth season was a definite step up from the previous ones. A big reason for that was John Lithgow's new serial killer character — he totally outshined Miguel Prado and G.W. King from the get-go. I was hooked from start to finish in the first episode. ()

Sodródó részek (2009) (S04E02)

angol Dexter's patience was tested in all the right ways, and both the investigations really got going. Plus, there was plenty of room for exploring various interpersonal relationships. I was a fan of this series back in the day, and it's still hitting the mark for me. ()

Vakító fények (2009) (S04E03)

angol This time around, I found myself drawn more to the precinct and the investigation into Trinity's final move. The subplot involving Dexter's family and neighborhood felt a bit lackluster, especially with Rita's character getting on my nerves. Thankfully, knowing there's more excitement ahead keeps my spirits up. ()

Kikapcsolódás (2009) (S04E04)

angol The creators made a smart move by getting rid of the disruptive elements, and even ditching some of the annoying ones. This gave Dexter room to shine, and I got to enjoy a fantastic atmosphere with plenty of tension and action. The well-crafted ending practically demands that you watch the next episode immediately. ()

A gyanú árnyéka (2009) (S04E05)

angol The story is moving in the right direction. Once again, the overall atmosphere was satisfying, even though the tension and action dipped a bit this time. Annoying Rita was driving me nuts, setting off all my alarms, and for that, I have to give credit to the creators for writing such an irritating character so well. I’m starting to understand why Paul resorted to domestic violence. I don’t approve, but I get it. ()

Ha lenne egy kalapácsom (2009) (S04E06)

angol I really enjoyed Dexter's bonding with Arthur and his family, and Deb's inner struggle was captivating. However, I wasn't as entertained by the ongoing relationship drama between Angel Batista and Maria LaGuerta — it felt like the creators were just trying to stretch out the story. Despite that, I still found enough to like, so I'm sticking with my original rating. ()

Holt víz (2009) (S04E07)

angol The creators nailed it. The episode had a fantastic atmosphere, packed with action and tension. John Lithgow was spot-on as Arthur Mitchell, proving once again that playing mentally disturbed characters is second nature to him. ()

Bűntudat (2009) (S04E08)

angol In my last review, I praised John Lithgow for his portrayal of Arthur Mitchell. This time, with even more screen time, he really shined. The trip to Tampa added a fresh twist to the story, keeping me engaged throughout. I wasn't bored for a second. Five stars, well-deserved. ()

A szent család (2009) (S04E09)

angol Dexter's uncovering of the Mitchell family's secret brought some truly chilling moments. Even though I've seen the series before and the element of surprise is gone, the final "Hi, Dad" still packed a punch. ()

A negyedik láncszem (2009) (S04E10)

angol As I've come to expect from the fourth season, there was no boredom or pointless filler in this episode. The story had a great pace and atmosphere, and even though this wasn't my first time watching it, I still enjoyed the well-crafted tension. ()

A bűnbak (2009) (S04E11)

angol It's fascinating to see how the tension and uncertainty increase with each episode. I had a blast watching both the official investigation and Dexter's private one. Plus, Arthur's hunt for Kyle Butler gave me serious Terminator vibes. ()

Az igazság öl (2009) (S04E12)

angol The creators nailed the season finale — what more could I ask for? The official police investigation and Dexter's personal vendetta intertwined perfectly. Dexter’s dark past finally came to light, and as a bonus, we got a farewell to the most annoying character of the entire series. ()

Season 5 (2010) (S05)

angol The opening episode was a disappointment, because it was too melodramatic, which is not what I watch Dexter for. The fifth episode, in turn, brought a lot of unnecessary material and was only there to stretch out the story. But what struck me most was Dexter's occasional emotional outpour, which he wasn’t supposed to have at all. But I had fun for the most part, the story was strong enough and Julia Stiles didn't get on my nerves as much as the (anti)hero’s dead wife. ()

Én bűnöm (2010) (S05E01)

angol I couldn’t give more than three stars. I mean, I’m watching a show about a serial killer who barely has emotions, and suddenly everyone’s sighing over Rita’s fate, including Dexter himself. The flashbacks were more annoying than anything else. ()

Megvagy, zsivány! (2010) (S05E02)

angol Astor was doing her best to replace her mother and top my list of annoying characters, but I was still pretty satisfied with this episode. The plot picked up again, Dexter finally found some relaxation, and the investigation got back on track, giving me plenty to enjoy. ()

Döglött állatok (2010) (S05E03)

angol I had a great time, and the ending was fantastic, truly deserving a five-star rating from me. ()

Egy csöppnyi hit (2010) (S05E04)

angol After a slow start, the season is finally heading in the right direction. Dexter's life is busier than ever, and I loved watching him juggle work, his son, and his dark hobbies. The homicide department kept things lively too. ()

Csalóka szivárvány (2010) (S05E05)

angol The fifth episode didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The constant relationship issues between Angel Batista and Maria LaGuerta were a drag, and Dexter’s interactions with Lumen felt repetitive. There just wasn’t much to enjoy this time around, and it shows in my rating. ()

Hali halál (2010) (S05E06)

angol Who would've thought a double murder could pack so many laughs? After a bit of a lackluster previous episode, this one brought a top-notch atmosphere, a healthy dose of suspense, and some well-timed humor. It kept me thoroughly entertained. ()
