Tartalmak(1)

(SPI)

angol A solid average which proves that Reynolds still knows how to make a movie. But if the Scott brothers invested a little more (and if one of them had filmed the thing), it could have turned out somewhat better. The screenplay lacks any mythological elements and attempts to give a realistic perspective. Which is all very nice, but not completely appropriate, because as a result the whole Tristan and Isolde story ends up swimming in the dime-a-dozen waters of something we have seen a hundred times over. angol On the wings of a surprisingly diverse soundtrack, the immortal story begins very slowly, but its fatefulness, the perfect chemistry between Franco and Sophia Myles, and the charisma of the positively acclaimed Rufus Sewell are enough for an unexpectedly strong spectacle. Reynolds playfully overcomes his own shadow. ()

angol Tristan and Isolda serves its purpose perfectly. This picture is romantic enough for your more delicate half to quiver with delight and action-historical enough for us to quiver with delight too ;-). Franco as Tristan is a nice enough guy for you to root for him and Sophia Miles is beautiful enough for it to be believable that a guy like James Franco would fall for her ;-). The Czech Republic locations don’t look very British, but that doesn’t spoil things much. More like I was disappointed that us Czechs can’t make a good, similarly toned movie. We have the people, we have the landscapes. Where’s the problem? ()

angol Even before Romeo and Juliet, there were Tristan and Isolde. However, maybe in this performance, it is not as interesting as one would expect. It is a nice romance against the backdrop of historical events, with a touch of the atmosphere of Arthurian England and stories from Norse legends. However, the romance didn't captivate me, and the historical background didn't impress me either. ()
