Csak egyetlen kulcsfontosságú erőd állja útjukat, a ferences rendi misszióból átalakított Alamo. 186 texasi katona és önkéntes néz szembe egy ötezer fős hadsereggel. A maroknyi ellenálló tizenhárom napon keresztül hősiesen védte az erődöt az óriási túlerővel szemben, sikeresen visszaverve a támadásokat. Áldozatvállalásuknak köszönhetően az amerikai hadsereg felkészülhetett a végső összecsapásra, mellyel eldönthette Texas sorsát. (Fantasy Film)

John Wayne was not only a great actor who forever became the embodiment of principled and honorable men, but he also dabbled in other professions. The role of a producer almost seems obvious, but he also sat in the director's chair. "Alamo" was his first and actually only film where he was credited as the sole director. It's not surprising. It can essentially be said that it is Duke's opus magnum, a work he had been preparing for his whole life. Not to showcase how great of an actor he was, but primarily to showcase how aware he was of the strength of his nation, how much he recognized the need for those honorable and brave men.
