A Mayflower Dog Show keretében a kutyások beutazzák Amerikát, hogy bemutassák négylábú kedvenceiket. Ott van a behízelgő modorú ügynök és felesége a Norwich terrierjükkel, míg a bolttulajdonos a vérebe győzelmében remánykedik. A feltörekvő ügyvéd házaspár a neurotikus weimari vizslája miatt aggódik, míg a homoszexuális pár az apró ölebét kényezteti. A szépségversenyek cirkuszának holdudvara leginkább ennyire bizarr: kutyaszállodák, kozmetikusok, sőt kutyadietetikusok színesítik a képet. (HBO Europe)

I was waiting what the film would be like, but it wasn’t that bad in the end. It was funny and the only thing ruining the movie’s reputation was the fact that it was too impersonal. It almost felt like a documentary about people who are a bit strange. It is not a coincidence that this film sometimes reminded me of the Czech film The Greatest Czechs and its scenes, where one Czech after another enthusiastically showed off their talents. Best in Show is similar, only it is not about people’s abilities but about dog owners and the beauty of their pets, which is also crazy. But the level of the entertainment is similar.
