Sometimes it is good to listen to someone’s recommendation. Otherwise I would’ve probably never gotten the chance to watch this movie as there is no way to find Czech subtitles. However, it is interesting to think about what kind of war movies the Soviets were making back then and what war kind of movies the Russians are making nowadays. I don’t want to say they are diametrically opposed, but I think Russians now put more thought into their screenplays. From the technical point of view, it is great and the filter on the camera itself made me believe I really am at that dark time and whenever there was a tank I was absolutely thrilled. For Russian standards, it was a very decent war movie, and it would surely deserve some recognition even beyond Russian borders. (2019.02.07)
