Egy jó szülő mindent bevállal. Amikor apu és anyu (Will Ferrell és Amy Poehler) rájön, hogy elképesztően rosszul gazdálkodtak a lányuk egyetemi képzésére félretett pénzzel, és nem maradt semmijük, megesküsznek, hogy juszt is taníttatni fogják a gyereküket. Ha kell, hát azt is vállalják, hogy más pénzén. Szerencsére, van egy játékmániás haverjuk. Tőle származik a zseniális ötlet: Zugkaszinó! Békés, kertvárosi házuk pincéjét átalakítják, és illegális játékbarlangot kezdenek üzemeltetni benne. A tétek gyorsan emelkednek, a pénz ömleni kezd, de azért az is hamar kiderül, hogy a törvényen kívüli életnek is vannak hátulütői. Esetleg halálosak is... (InterCom)

Do you know that feeling when you’re being entertained by a comedy, but at the same time, you know that it is missing one or two scenes which would blow you away that would justify the fourth star?

This is a comedy that definitely failed to impress me. It’s true that Will Ferrell looks progressively cooler, and there's a pretty nice cameo by Jeremy Renner, but in the final analysis, this is too much of a bland and unfunny comedy during which I basically didn't laugh once because there wasn't much to laugh at.

The theme had the potential for a good comedy, but then the filmmakers somehow got out of hand and made it into a vulgar tale with too much screaming that overseas productions churn out constantly. The mass production that the market demands. But I'm probably not the right target audience. I at least have a positive opinion of the soundtrack, which suits the plot quite well, but I wasn’t blown away by it either. (35%)
