Rushmore is the story of a gifted, rebellious teenager named Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzman), a 10th grader at elite Rushmore Academy. Editor of the school newspaper, captain or president of innumerable clubs and societies, Max is also one of the worst students in the school, and the threat of expulsion hangs permanently over his head. Max's world is rocked when he falls for elegant 1st grade teacher Miss Cross (Olivia Williams) and he plans to erect an aquarium in her honor -- then finds himself competing for her affections with his friend, steel tycoon Mr. Blume (Bill Murray), the wealthy father of two of his classmates. angol Anderson is usually unique, but here he still had significant reservations in terms of narrative pace and style. Even then, it was a portion of original entertainment with a sheer essence of melancholy, but the whole story, although we have all been platonically in love with a young smiling teacher at some point, drags on very slowly and I can only catch glimpses of it through slowed-down shots, a fantastic soundtrack, or occasional charmingly weird gags. As a whole, however, Rushmore is so specifically self-contained that I eagerly look forward to the director's shift in my favorite family three years later. ()

angol A brilliant Wes Anderson – as always, really. I had a bit of a problem believing Jason Schwartzman was a 15-year-old boy, but then I found out he was about 17 at the time of filming and I figured he was actually well cast because his Max was supposed to look that way. And Bill Murray is a safe bet, of course. The amount of emotion he can put into one look, another actor can't do in a whole film. ()

angol During the first half hour I looked forward to giving it five stars. Anderson sucked me into a world full of quirky characters, real feelings and delicate quips, and, smiling from ear to ear, I listened to every retort and watched every expression of the greatly cast actors (Bill Murray in particular, with another over-the-top role). But the humour gradually decreases, both in the dialogues and the development of the characters and their confrontations, yet the film never ceases being one of the most adorable genre contributions from the 90s, with a romantic line that works wonderfully in its own absurdity and unique world, and characters that are guaranteed to be etched in your memory. And the low-key but solid soundtrack adds to the colour. Let yourselves be drawn in and you are sure to have fun, though not all the way to 5*. ()

angol I like Wes Anderson's movies, but I simply don't consider this one to be the best he has made. His aesthetics can be felt here, it's pleasantly quirky, but the main character is truly appalling. You can easily despise them. Furthermore, the story doesn't captivate you as much as Anderson's other works do. It's well-acted, but I guess I expected more. ()
