Set against the backdrop of Goa - JOSH is a story about energy, youth, love and the zest for life. Max (Shah Rukh Khan), a cool Goan dada is the leader of the 'Eagle' gang who is constantly up in arms against the new inhabitants of Vasco town, Prakash (Sharad Kapoor) and his pack of the "Bichhu" gang. The two gangs revel in this immature enmity and love to showoff their strength with each other. This animosity is further complicated when Prakash's city bred brother Rahul (Chandrachur Singh) comes to town and falls in love with Max's twin sister Shirley (Aishwarya Rai). The Indian version of Grease meets the Indian version of Beverly Hills, 90210. Yet it also happens to have a slightly ironic detachment. ;) Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan look quite believable even at their age, so why deny them Heartbreak High/West Side Story? I'll enjoy watching it twice, unlike, for example, A Rosy Story. In addition, Josh matures like a fine wine with each watch, and if you like post-colonial Portuguese influences, there's an extra dimension in there for you.
