Dr. Judd Stevens is a mild-mannered Chicago psychiatrist. After one of his patients borrows a jacket from the doctor, the man is murdered. Then Stevens' secretary is killed. The police are at a loss to solve the crimes, but Lieutenant McGreavy is ready to pin the murders on Stevens. McGreavy's zeal gets him removed from the case, which leaves his more sympathetic partner Angeli to work on the investigation. But the killings continue and Dr. Stevens takes matters into his own hands, hiring an eccentric private investigator to help him with his own search for the killer. (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)

A very good, but unfortunately lesser known film with an interestingly non-Bond Roger Moore and unsurprisingly great Steiger and Gould. The story may be a bit tired, but the raw presentation makes it interesting enough to keep you watching until the end. Although you may guess one of the final twists as you watch (but I wouldn't bet too much on it), you'll remember the end of the film, the last long shot, for a long time. I was chilled by how believable and ruthless it was. I'd give it five stars... Well, maybe in time, when I get to see it gain.
