Interesting connection between life and death, new and old, human and nature. This is not something you see every day. At first glance, it may appear to be an agitational film, and perhaps it is to some extent, but it is necessary to realize that even the Soviet censorship indulged in it. Dovzhenko made a film that is about life, it is about a heavy fate. The connection with nature is not an ecological outcry, but a natural harmony.
