Valami szörnyűség lappang a Kaptárban, egy óriási, földalatti genetikai kísérleti üzemben, ahol halálos vírus üti fel a fejét. Válaszlépésként a Vörös Királynő - azaz a Kaptárt irányító óriási szuperkomputer - szigorú zárlatot rendel el, nehogy a vírus kiszabaduljon. Ezzel az intézkedéssel egyúttal az összes bent rekedt dolgozót is halálra ítéli. Alice és Rain feladata, hogy kommandós társaik élén izolálják a vírust, a team azonban hamarosan érdekes felfedezést tesz: a dolgozók valójában igazán nem is halottak.
