Satanico Pandemonium: La Sexorcista

It would be a pleasantly meditative compilation of heretical settings if the set design didn't look like something out of a puppet show. The sharp multiple shadows on the styrofoam rocks and the corner rooms shot from only one angle unfortunately don't make the long, slow scenes feel increasingly funny. The funny thing is that when Cecilia Pezet takes off the nun's headdress, she looks exactly like the protagonist of the anime Paprika. (2021.10.04)

This isn't really an extreme film for me, but rather just a surreal and naked contemplation of what happens when we suppress something within ourselves. Perhaps it was the higher expectations I had that slightly spoiled the experience for me, but I didn't quite feel that desire, maybe just hinted at in some scenes. It was good, but in my opinion, given the subject matter, just not good enough. (2016.02.06)
