This was another adventure yarn in a series Columbia produced with the Holt-Graves combination (WAR CORRESPONDENT, FLIGHT, HELL'S ISLAND), but what made it a standout was the direction by imaginative Frank Capra. The story deals with Graves flying over the South Pole a la Admiral Byrd and landing so that the US flag can be planted. The plane cracks up and the occupants are thrown free to begin their freezing trudge back to civilization. It's hopeless, of course, until a US Navy dirigible comes to the rescue under the command of Holt. This film was one of the first big-budget productions approved of by studio mogul Harry Cohn.
