angol For some their first feature encounter with Lord Greystoke was a dark adaptation with Christopher Lambert; for the luckier ones, it was Disney's sensational animated film. For me, in my relatively early childhood, it was a television adaptation where a certain Joe Lara appeared as Tarzan of the Apes, and I never saw Tarzan in any other film after that. It goes without saying that the urban adventure was a dead end for everyone involved, but at the time, my grandfather's worn-out VHS tape was a secret holy grail, which I told my classmates about and wondered why no one knew what I was talking about. Deep down in my mind, I knew that the lord of the jungle should spend most of his time in the jungle instead of climbing skyscrapers, and the animal experiments didn't quite fit into that picture for me. Moreover, the scene of removing a bullet from a shot Tarzan's body had me glued to the couch in almost panicked horror. But it was precisely that forgotten VHS tape, which luckily ended up in my hands almost a quarter of a century later, that triggered such nostalgia that I couldn't give it a worse rating, even if it was the worst junk.
