The last film with Zatoichi, which Shintaro Katsu directed and also one of his last films ever. He did not shoot anymore after 1990. It is shown here that even as a director he was able to accept new approaches and mainly he made a film that did not remain in the past, but is more modern, more action-packed than its predecessors and technically better. This is not nostalgia, but a fully-fledged continuation.
