I'm giving my usual three stars to the pilot episode. The creators, as expected, laid out the plot and briefly introduced a bunch of characters, though there wasn't much added value. Probably budget constraints. If the first episode convinced me of anything, it's that finding a favorite character won't be a walk in the park. The lineup of corrupt police officers, innocent black drug dealers, and criminals doesn't give me much to choose from. Luckily, I don't have to agonize over who's worse because I'm sure the creators will tell me what to think to join the right-minded folks. Although... It's HBO, not Netflix, so who knows? / Lesson learned: If a policeman doesn't let the laws bind him too much while performing his duties, he can have some fun.
