A föld szelleme

There's something stunning about the list of filmmakers contributing to the adaptation of Wedekind's play - not the numbers, but the prestige: incomparable Asta Nielsen starring as a prostitute, screenwriter and the spiritual father of German expressionism Carl Mayer, and director Leopold Jessner, who participated on key film and theatre interpretations of this style. angol I haven't liked an Asta Nielsen movie as much as Earth Spirit in a long time. Maybe it's just that I don't focus on her enough or regularly, but this is a consuming version of Wedekind. Unfortunately, the play itself is so legendary that one immediately has to deal with comparisons to other film or stage versions. However, the styling of this perfection is Asta's solo, to which is subordinated the acting of everyone around her, and even her costumes seem to follow the great constructions and are there only to make her every slightest gesture stand out. It is also quite clear to me now why Kafka loved Albert Bassermann. ()
