Maya and the Three

This show was pretty decent and mostly a pleasant surprise. In the beginning, I did not expect the narrative would be so captivating and fascinating that I would be able to binge-watch the whole season in one evening. After all, I found the animation quite strange, the characters in the first episode were not that engaging, and everything unfolded way too predictably at times. I also did not find half the jokes funny. However, gradually Maya and the three warriors won me over. Because the introductions to each character and their backstories were done so well, I was able to form a relationship with them fairly quickly. I also began to be increasingly surprised by more and more things. In other words, the narrative was a roller coaster in the second half. The conclusion was incredibly over the top, crazy, colorful, and action-packed. It definitely did not finish in the way I had expected. It was a decent ride, often very (very much) over the top and some of the moving parts were a bit too heart-wrenching for my taste. However, it still worked. So, I enjoyed this season and I would have no problem watching it again. The colors and the narrative made it undeniably charming. Also, those aforementioned emotional parts and the attractive setting in Central America with the Mayan civilization, were enjoyable. 8/10. (2021.11.03)
