Clint Eastwood embarks on a journey to Mexico to find his boss's son and bring him to America. The cocky teenager and the old curmudgeon don't get along, but on the way home they find they can learn a lot from each other. This time, Hollywood classic Eastwood made a very slow drama that relies on his charisma and nothing else. And unfortunately, it's not enough. Clint is still the man, but unfortunately the unoriginal and predictable plot trip him up. A mediocre and unremarkable film that you can do without and that Eastwood's filmography could do without.

James Wan made a movie for fun. He made a horror film about a woman who becomes an unwilling witness to violent crimes, in the style of the B-horror films of the 1980s. He is not afraid of absurdity, even going for the slightly ridiculous at times, but at the same time the film is extremely imaginative and clever, and uncompromisingly his. You may find it terribly satisfying, or you may turn it off in disgust halfway through. But it's definitely worth a try. Because if you happen to be in tune with Wan, you'll enjoy it immensely.

Blind tough guy Stephen Lang has improved since last time and now he's kicking ass for the good guys, and he has to beat, choke, chop up and otherwise murder a bunch of drug dealers who kidnapped a girl he cares about. Don’t Breathe 2 is less ambitious than the first film and is basically a rather impressive, atmospheric and bloody slasher with an unexpectedly unpleasant atmosphere, but nothing more. If that's enough for you, you'll be satisfied, because rookie director Rodo Sayagues has mastered his craft. Any greater ambition, however, was clearly not on the set.

The low-key Shang-Chi is actually the son of the leader of the world's largest criminal organization. And even though he's been hiding from his daddy for ten years, he must now return to the world he's been running from for so long. But the family reunion won't be entirely joyful, and beings not of our world will have a say in it. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings surprises with its fast pace, likeable hero and great action in its first half. Unfortunately, the closer the film gets to its conclusion, the more it relies on visual effects and it becomes clear that director Destin Daniel Cretton may have bitten off a bit too big a bite. Overall, this is a fine Marvel film peppered with Chinese mythology that offers exactly what you expect when you buy tickets to see it.

Hugh Jackman searches his own memories to find out what happened to his love, Rebecca Ferguson, but he may not be prepared for what he finds. Lisa Joy delivers a visually appealing combination of science fiction and noir that perhaps borrows too much from other films, but the two hours pass unexpectedly pleasantly.

Game character Ryan Reynolds has become sentient and decided to do good, and that can have far-reaching consequences in the game. This action comedy relies on a combination of wild action, slightly wacky humor, a bunch of pop culture references, a very plucky hero and an unexpectedly positive atmosphere. It's fun to watch.

A fascinating film in its own way. There is something wrong in every scene, but also something somehow different. Maybe that was the intention and it's about art, but I think it's more just plain mismanaged crap.

Peter Rabbit decides to run away and escapes to London, where he joins an animal gang. If everyone thinks he's a rogue, he's going to be one for real. But real friends never let their friends down. Peter Rabbit 2 is again good-looking and has quite likeable characters, but the protagonist does much less funny shenanigans this time and instead whines about everyone being mean to him when he wants to better himself. Educational, I guess, but a lot less entertaining than the first film.

It's nice to have a pleasant surprise once in a while, because while I was secretly hoping for a lot, I wasn't really expecting much. James Gunn, however, pulled it off much better than I would have guessed. His Suicide Squad is more colourful and wilder, which was more or less expected, except that my fears that too much freedom wouldn't suit him and the film would end up being nothing but bizarre mess were not borne out. Gunn knows when he can afford subtle bizarreness or creepiness, and when to surprise the viewer with an unexpected death or a scene so badass that you're a little embarrassed to laugh at it. But at the same time, his film also works in dramatic situations, and it's far from just an exhibition of more or less weird characters doing more or less weird things. The new crew is really good and the acting is really great (those who can't act know it and, ironically, can take advantage of it), the gradual building of relationships between the murderous sociopaths works unexpectedly well and Gunn isn't afraid to be surprisingly adult at times, only to knock it down a few minutes later with some harsh joke. Above all, though, the whole thing is incredibly fun. This is a good one.

Shoky and Morty are YouTubers whose careers are coming to an end, so they decide to try to make a documentary about a cursed bride who has been killing people for centuries, and maybe figure out what to do with their lives and their friendship. Andy Fehu delivers a bold and clever film that plays with genres and pokes fun at audience expectations. It manages to be scintillatingly funny, clever and real, and you're never sure what's coming next. Štáfek and Kozub are great, Magnusek is awesome, and Fehu is his own man.
