Sudabeh Mortezai (1968, Ludwigsburg, Germany) is an Austrian director of Iranian origin who has a natural flair for the issue of migration. In 1994 she graduated from Vienna University where she majored in fi lm and theatre studies and in 2003 she completed a course focusing on film, television and digital media at prestigious University of California. After her studies in Los Angeles she lived in Vienna and Tehran, working as assistant director and production manager and directing several short films and two acclaimed feature-length documentaries. Macondo is her feature fiction debut.
