Todd Farmer began his career working for director Sean S. Cunningham, writing Jason X. The tenth film of the Friday the 13th franchise, it once again resurrected the legendary boogeyman Jason for horror fans. Farmer next penned Scarecrow for Revolution Studios, which became The Messengers and was directed by the Pang brothers for Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures. Years later, Farmer's original screenplay, Scarecrow, would spawn a second film, The Messengers 2. He wrote Monkey's Paw for RKO Pictures with Spanish director Javier Gutierrez attached and wrote a video game adaptation called Heavenly Sword.

Farmer's greatest successes have come through his partnership with editor and director Patrick Lussier. Farmer and Lussier are credited with My Bloody Valentine 3-D, the first in the wave of live action 3-D movies that ushered in the 3-D revolution. The pair has since teamed up again as writers, co-writing Halloween 3-D for Dimension Films.

Between screenplays, Farmer has pursued his passion for comic books by partnering with Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and Thomas Jane (The Punisher) on the comic book series "Alien Pig Farm." They finished the six-issue series "The Lycan." Farmer was co-writing "Insurgents" with producer F.J. DeSanto for Wildstorm Comics.

Also an actor, Farmer played Frederic in a college production of "Pirates of Penzance" and made his feature film debut in Jason X. Farmer next played a small role in My Bloody Valentine 3-D.
