Born in Mexico City, where she studied film at the University Center for Cinematographic Studies (CUEC) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She is a writer, director and film producer. Has won several literature awards, including the José Rubén Romero National Novel Award, from the National Institute of Fine Arts. In addition to her literary work, she has written multiple television shows, some of them reaching the highest audience ratings of Mexican television. In the film scene, she has author and co-author over ten feature film scripts that have already been produced, eleven of which have been released either nationally or internationally, obtaining several nominations and awards, and many of them breaking different box office records. López is the director of four of the scripts she has written: Side Effects (2006), Almost Divas (2008), Return (2017) and Everything is Wrong (2018). Her international film Tigers Are Not Afraid has obtained a total of 57 awards around the world, three Silver Goddesses (including Best Director and Best Film), ten Ariel nominations, and it has also been a favorite film for the specialized international critics.
