Vlad Ivanov was born in 1969 in Botoșani, Rumania. After he graduated from the Bucharest Academy, he starred in many film including Cristian Mungiu's 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days (Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival), which put him on the world map. In 2009, he was seen in Tales from the Golden Age co-directed by Cristian Mungiu and Radu Mihaileanu's The Concert. He landed a small role in Bong Joon Ho's 2013 Snowpiercer. He also worked under the direction of Radu Muntean in One Floor Below, selected at Un Certain Regard in 2015.
