Jiří Lehovec (1909-1995) was a photographer, screenwriter and director who studied at VUT in Brno and graduated from the history of art and aesthetics at Charles University in Prague. He was actively engaged in the Czech avant-garde movement. Besides working as a journalist, he worked at the Barrandov Studios and the Bata Film Studios in Zlin. He was the founder of the Krátký Film Praha studios. His work includes both feature and documentary films such as The Magic Eye (Divotvorné oko, 1939), Rhythm (Rytmus, 1941), Mykoin PH 510 (1963), Jiří Trnka (1967) and The Magic Lamp (Kouzelná svítilna, 1975).
