Emir Kusturica

Emir Kusturica's (Sarajevo, 1954) feature debut Do You Remember Dolly Bell? (1981) won the Golden Lion for Best First or Second Film at the Venice Film Festival. When Father Was Away on Business was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 1985 Cannes Festival and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language film Academy Award. At Cannes, Emir Kusturica also won Best Director for Time of the Gypsies (1989) and his second Palme d'Or for Underground (1995). Arizona Dream was awarded the Silver Bear at the 1993 Berlinale and Black Cat, White Cat won him Venice Silver Lion for Best Director in 1998.
