Finn Gjerdrum

Finn Gjerdrum was born 20.03.1961 in Sandefjord as a son of a whaler living by the sea. Now he lives in the countryside, breeding icelandic horses, and he has a summerhouse at Bornholm in Denmark. He’s married to his lovely danish Yvonne, and they have two children Asta and Halfdan.

Finn applied three times to the Department of editing at the Danish Filmschool, but ended up with a Masterdegree in Film- & Communicationstudies at University of Copenhagen. Then he attended postgraduatestudies in Production at Volda Universitycollege, and his career as a producer started working with shorts and commercials.

In 1995 he co-founded BulBul Film A/S together with director Bent Hamer, and worked as producer and managing director. In 1998 he co-founded Paradox Produksjon A/S together with director Erik Poppe and producer Torleif Hauge. He is heading the feturefilmdepartment, specializing in development, and is managing director of the company.

Besides being a producer he is also Associate Professor at the Department of Filmscience & TV at Lillehammer Universitycollege. Finn was member of the commity planning the Norwegian Filmschool, and the commity planning the regional filmfund, Film3.
