Kevin Mishner develops and produces motion pictures via his Los Angeles-based production company, Misher Films.
Mr. Misher's most recently produced the critically acclaimed Public Enemies, which starred Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, and Marion Cotillard for director Michael Mann.
His projects in development include Swingles, to be directed by Zach Braff and to star Cameron Diaz; an adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune to be directed by Pierre Morel; The Last Duel, to be directed by Martin Scorsese; a big-screen version of Marvel Comics' legendary superhero Sub-Mariner; and a movie transfer of Sony Games' Shadow of the Colossus.
Mr. Misher, raised in Queens, New York, earned a degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business. His first job in the entertainment industry was at HBO in New York, where he served as a financial analyst for then-CEO Michael Fuchs. He then relocated to Los Angeles and landed at the international talent agency ICM, initially as a mail clerk and soon after as an agent's assistant. His talent for identifying possible film projects convinced top studio executive Mike Medavoy to hire him as a creative executive at TriStar Pictures.
He ascended the ranks, and during his six years at the studio oversaw numerous productions, including Mike Newell's Donnie Brasco, starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp.
In 1996, Mr. Misher moved to Universal Pictures, where he became president of production. During his tenure, he supervised production of some of the studio's most successful features, including Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight and Erin Brockovich, the latter of which earned Julia Roberts her Academy Award; and four movies that inaugurated blockbuster franchises: Stephen Sommers' The Mummy, Jay Roach's Meet the Parents, Rob Cohen's The Fast and the Furious, and Doug Liman's The Bourne Identity.
He left Universal in 2001 to form Misher Films. His first project was the hit spin-off of The Mummy franchise, The Scorpion King, directed by Chuck Russell and starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He reunited with the latter actor on The Rundown, directed by Peter Berg.
Mr. Misher's subsequent films as producer have included The Interpreter, directed by Sydney Pollack, and starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn; and Dito Montiel's Fighting, starring Channing Tatum and Terrence Howard.
