Burmese filmmaker Kyaw Myo Lwin joined the Yangon Film School (YFS) in 2007 where he has since worked as sound recordist and/or editor on several YFS productions including a film about trauma healing in the Delta after Cyclone Nargis called Hidden Wounds. He recently edited the short documentary 'Insein Rhythm' – about a 19th century railway station in Yangon's Insein township, but a stone's throw away from Myanmar's infamous Insein prison. This film premiered at Visions du réel International Documentary Film Festival in Nyon in April 2013. Since 2009 Kyaw Myo Lwin has also been working as a peer trainer as part of the YFS teach-to-train programme. Tyres marks his directorial debut and has won at Palm Springs International Short Film Festival the Best Student Film and Best Student Cinematography Award.
