Carlota Nelson was born in Tokyo, Japan, to an Argentine mother and a Swedish father. She has worked as a screenwriter, reporter and content producer for Spanish television for more than 15 years. She also works as a translator and freelance travel and cultural writer for leading newspapers (El Pais) and magazines abroad (Mare) and in Spain, where she resides. Her personal interest in social issues has impulsed her to cover themes such as the exploitation of aboriginal artists in Australia, the remains of apartheid in South Africa, censorship in Kuala Lumpur and recidivism in United States prisons, among others. During 2008-2009 she worked as the Assistant Director for feature length documentary titled: Norman Foster
