Anna Tchernakova graduated from VGIK (class of Marlen Khutsiev) in 1993. Her first feature VISHNYOVYY SAD/THE CHERRY ORCHARD (1993) was awarded with Grand-prix at the film festival in Minsk and also participated in numerous festivals, including Kinotavr and Tokyo International Film Festival. In 1995-2006 she lived in Canada and England, where she was making documentaries and television films. Her animation work SEA AND STARS (2002) participated in more than thirty international festivals. In 2008 she made SEZON TUMANOV/ SEASON OF MISTS, which was awarded with numerous prizes, including prizes at the Kinoshok festival and also at the international festival Russkoe Zarubezhie.
