Életrajz

Claude Léger has been working on the expansion of the television and film industries for over 40 years. He was fortunate enough to witness the emerging years of these industries in Canada, this experience greatly enriching his skills in establishing international co-productions with foreign partners.

He founded Transfilm in 1983, which rapidly became a leader in the international production of feature films in Canada. In the 1990s, the company produced two of the most important big-budget movies filmed in Canada: Highlander III and Shadow of the Wolf (Agaguk), based upon Yves Thériault‟s famous novel. The budget of both these films combined was over $85 million. At the end of the decade, Transfilm saw remarkable growth due to its close collaboration with French group Groupe Média Lagardère, a very important communications organization. This synergetic partnership, together with a maintained collaboration with British investment company Movision allowed for them to raise over $100 million. These funds went toward productions such as Napoléon and the blockbuster hit Grey Owl from Sir Richard Attenborough. These period films featured numerous famous actors and were released all around the world and enjoyed much commercial success.

Transfilm International developed the movie Upside Down, which was co-produced with French company Onyx Films. The film had a budget of 65 million dollars and was filmed entirely in Montreal under the direction of Juan Solanas. It stars Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst, winner of the Cannes Film Festival Best Actress award.
