Sara Colangelo (1980) graduated in history from Brown University and in film from NYU. In 2006 her documentary Halal Vivero was a national finalist at the Student Academy Awards. The short drama Un attimo de respiro (2007) played at Tribeca and SXSW, and brought the filmmaker NYU's prestigious Wasserman Prize for best direction. Her short graduation film Little Accidents (2010) won numerous honors, including awards from Seattle and the short film festival in San Francisco. In 2010 Filmmaker magazine named her one of "5 New Faces of Independent Film."
