Barry Shurchin's first Filmmaking endeavor, his feature "Down on Brighton," won Best Original Screenplay at The Nodance Film Festival in 2002. Shurchin next completed "One Roll," a short drama about a young photographer murdered by the subjects she attempts to photograph. This film along with the feature script "Barry Dingle" helped Shurchin secure financing and recruit talent, such as Lukas Haas, Veronica Cartwright and Nichole Sullivan for the production of "Barry Dingle." Barry Shurchin's other feature screenplays "Disgruntled," "Immigrant" and "Cannibal Love" have such talent attached as Adrien Brody, Jeremy Piven and Annabelle Sciora.
Barry Shurchin was born in Lvov, Ukraine in 1971. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1979. Shurchin spent his adolescent years in Flatbush Brooklyn, attended The State University at Albany for his undergraduate degree in Russian Literature and studied acting with Bill Esper, Earle Gister and Olympia Dukakis in the late nineties. Since then he has worked on stage, guest starred on "The Sopranos," "Law and Order" and played a supporting roles in John McTiernan's "Rollerball" and Richard Linklater's "School of Rock."
