Documentary by Van Gasteren which was commissioned by PTT when the telephone exchange in Warffum, Groningen was put into operation. The automation of the Dutch telephone network - as the second country in the world - was now official. The film does not concentrate on the technology, but rather on human labour and intelligence, which eventually made the connections possible. The filmmaker also follows a number of ordinary citizens, gratefully using the new telecommunication system every day. (Nederlands Film Festival)
