Hine Anachnu

Now in his mid-fifties, Aharon’s own life comes second. Since separating from his wife, he has devoted himself entirely to his autistic son Uri. They spend their time together day after day, far away from the real world. Uri is slowly but surely growing up, and both the authorities and his mother believe that the time has come for him to live a more independent life in specialist accommodation. And so one day Aharon sets off with his son to his new home. En-route, however, Aharon is overcome by doubt – deep inside he knows Uri is not yet ready for this giant leap. Or is it Aharon himself who is not up to facing this impending change? The Israeli master director Nir Bergman presents a heart-warming, deeply humanistic and humorous drama about fatherly love and the difficulty of letting go. (Zurich Film Festival)
