Under the Same Sun

Azerbaijanis and Armenians both have a cultural, historical and political connection to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and each emphasises its own regional identity. Twenty-five years have passed since the first war over Nagorno-Karabakh, but both sides are still attacking each other militarily. The suffering and bloodshed have led to deep-rooted hurt and blame. "Armenians say that Azerbaijanis are to blame and vice versa," complains Ravan, an Azerbaijani journalist who reveals his point of view on the matter in the film. For her part, Anna, an Armenian refugee, is burdened by traumatic childhood experiences. The past is still alive and it is almost impossible for those directly involved to discuss the topic rationally. Shortly after the film's completion, the region was shaken by the outbreak of another war. (One World)
