Jedenáste prikázanie

During filming, it was clearly an example of the better part of Czechoslovak television production. At first glance, it is evident that the Slovak cultural scene was significantly less affected by normalization in the 1970s than in Bohemia. The series has much less ideology than expected. There is no black-and-white view of the world, supporters of the old order have a human face, and they are not caricatures or repulsive, condemnable creatures. It is evident (and the creators really don't deceive the viewers) that the changes in the conditions were perceived and accepted by the Slovak public much better than by the people in the Czech lands, the increase in the standard of living for the majority of the population was undeniable, and industrial investments helped kickstart prosperity even in neglected remote regions. The collapse of the old order was therefore not as painful and violent. In comparison with Youngest of the Hamr's Family created at the same time, this series clearly comes out as the winner, but apart from those who like to remember the faces of former Slovak stars, I would hesitate to recommend the series. The pace is uncomfortably slow by today's standards and the series lags behind in terms of dramaturgy. Overall impression: 45%. (2018.05.22)
