The Isahaya Bay in the Ariake Sea used to abound with the most diverse fish species. This applies not only to the Sea itself, but also to the muddy tidal area, where different types of crabs, lobsters and shrimp were caught by means of all kinds of convenient and often ancient techniques. In recent years, however, the catch has drastically dropped, to the utter dismay of the fishing community. The bond between man and nature that had grown here over the centuries seems to be lost forever. Beautiful nature shots – often made from the sky – show the magnificent and highly varied fauna in the area. The images are alternated with interviews with old fishermen who bring back memories from the past, when the sea was still teeming with fish and a hard-working fisherman could make good money.
