Mondo films have their own appeal, and Mondo Cane No. 1 is the first one that attempted to show the world "as it is." That's not entirely true because it's highly distorted, heavily subjective, and primarily aimed at shocking viewers, but you can't deny the impact it has on you. Some of the scenes are just awful and you know it happened or could have happened.
