Top gymnast David Wristers makes his acting debut as young gymnast Timo, who is in training for the World Championships. His ultimate dream is to win gold at the Olympic Games. He is mentored by his demanding father, Ward – himself once a talented gymnast, but now confined to a wheelchair following a road accident. Timo in turn cares for his father. When Timo meets with the slightly older physiotherapist Irene, intense feelings jeopardise his dedication to his sport. He also increasingly drifts away from his father, and starts to ask questions about his absent mother. Why did she leave, and why do they never talk about her? Camera and sound follow Timo closely though his coming of age in this film about the physical and mental intensity of sport at the highest level – but even more about the awakening, intense emotions of this young athlete.
