A documentary film celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Spanish international news agency EFE. The film is an invitation to travel to some of the planet’s main journalistic hot spots through eight stories about the major current world issues against the backdrop of the lives of EFE correspondents in different countries. The film takes viewers to the war front in Libya or to the epicenter of the Ebola virus epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We listen to migrants fleeing violence on the Mexican border or to ‘dreamers’ looking for a better future in New York. We feel the glamour of Hollywood red carpets or the despair of those who survive in the slums of Paris. We witness the dramatic melting of glaciers in the Chilean Patagonia or the lights and shadows of the Chinese economic takeoff. Such are the stories told by a news agency which currently faces a great challenge: to survive and be part of the present-day news media ecosystem without losing its soul in the attempt.
